The UK is, without a doubt, a landscape photographers dream. From the highlands of Scotland to the wild Jurassic Coast, the UK has something for all styles of landscape photography. It is also one of the best places in the world to improve your landscape photography. Through years of exploration across this little island we have come across some amazing locations. So here are our Best UK landscape photography locations.
Yorkshire Dales – No. 6
We kick off our countdown with gods country, the Yorkshire Dales national park. This is a region teeming with rolling hills and hidden waterfalls. Then there is the unusual limestone pavements and unique architecture. All this make Yorkshire Dales national park a favourite with landscape photographers.
Cornwall – No. 5
Next, on our list, we head to the south-west of the UK to the beautiful Cornish coastline. With pristine white-sand beaches, turquoise sea and cute fishing villages, Cornwall is on the list of top spots for most Landscape photographers. There are so many stunning locations to shoot in Cornwall. Some of our favourites spots are the Bedruthen Steps, the Lizard peninsula and St Ives. But the highlight of them all might be the rugged southernmost tip of the UK, Land’s End.
Glencoe – No. 4
Next on the countdown of our best UK landscape photography locations is Glencoe in the Scottish highlands. Made famous by many a movie you would be hard missed not to have seen the beauty of Glencoe. Dominated by the Three Sisters, the valley is also known for its picture-perfect waterfalls at high peaks. These include Buachaille Etive Mor and Bidean Nam Bian. Some of our favourite shots include the white cottages that dotted along the glens. They sit majestically in the foothills of the towering peaks that surround the valley.
Lake District – No. 3
The midway point of our best UK Landscape photography Locations brings us to the Lake District. This mountainous region is dotted with lakes of all sizes. Naturally, these offer incredible viewpoints over the lakes. Get up close to them and you’ll be rewarded with perfect reflections in the afternoon light. There will also be the odd jetty that makes the perfect composition for your sunrise images. If you decide that you want to go higher, the Lake District has some of the most stunning views in the UK.
Jurassic Coast – No. 2
The penultimate location takes us back down south to Dorset’s Jurassic Coast. It was very close between the Jurassic Coast and the Lake district for our number two spot. But the Jurassic Coast won due to its uniqueness. Nowhere else in the UK will you find fossil lined beeches (Kimmeridge bay). There is also rugged and unique coastal rock formations like Durdle Door. If that’s not enough, there is also the magnificent Corfe Castle, shrouded in mist and mystery.
Isle of Skye – No. 1 Best UK landscape photography location
Isle of Skye – No. 1 UK landscape photography spot
The number one spot in our UK Landscape photography Locations goes to the Isle of Skye. Located in Scotland, the Isle of Skye is legendary with landscape photographers. They travel from all over the world to photograph its unique landscape. Other than Iceland, there is no other location that packs everything a landscape photographer could ever want in such a small area. There are windswept beaches overlooked by the Cuillin Mountains. Perfect fishing villages. Magical waterfalls and rock pools at the Fairy Pools. All this before we even get to the UK’s two most dramatic views. The Quirang and the Old Man of Stor. If you love landscape photography, the Isle of Skye is the place for you. When you get there it won’t take long before you realise why it made our number one spot.
